The questions I get asked most
Straight answers about the tutorials, the tools, the templates, the community and working with me. If yours is not here, the email at the bottom reaches me.
Getting started
African Geek is where I teach Canva to designers and small businesses across Africa. I started it in Accra, Ghana. Today there are 622+ tutorials on YouTube, 139K+ followers on Instagram, a community of 4,500+ designers and 23 tools on this site, all built for how we work here: our currencies, our clients, our examples.
Read the full storyMost of it, yes. The tutorials, the tools, the templates, the cheatbook and the PNG packs cost nothing and need no signup. The only paid items are in the shop: the Canva course ($25) and the shortcut desk mat.
See the shopNo. Most tutorials work on the plan you already have. When a step needs a Pro feature, like premium elements or a brand kit, I say so in the video so you can decide before you start.
Start with the beginner track on the learn page. It lines up tutorials in the order that makes sense, from the Canva interface to your first finished design. If you are not sure which track fits, the start here page asks a few questions and points you to the right one.
Open the learn pageTemplates and resources
Go to the resources page and choose the templates. They open on the African Geek Canva profile, where every template is public. Click one and it opens in your own Canva account, ready to edit, with no signup and nothing to pay.
Go to the resources pageYes. Once a template is in your account you can edit it and use it commercially: client projects, a business page, print or digital. The one condition is Canva's own content licence, which covers the stock elements inside a design.
Enter your email on the cheatbook page and the PDF lands in your inbox. It groups the Canva keyboard shortcuts by what they do, so you can keep it beside your keyboard and stop hunting through menus.

Community and events
The community lives on nas.io and is free to join. Use the link below, or find the same link on the events page.
Join the communityA space with 4,500+ designers from 15+ African countries, templates just for members, weekly challenges, live Q&A sessions with me, early access to new tutorials and honest feedback on your work.
Both. Most workshops and Q&A sessions happen online so you can join from anywhere in Africa or beyond. Some events happen in person in Accra. The events page lists what is coming up, and I announce everything on Instagram too.

Yes. All 23 tools on this site need no account. Open one, use it, close it. What you type into a tool stays in your browser unless you choose to submit a form, like signing up for the newsletter. The one exception is the client onboarding checklist, which saves your progress in your browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back.
Browse the toolsAs a starting point, yes. It writes a plain language contract covering payment terms, revisions, ownership of the work and a kill fee. It is not legal advice, and laws differ from country to country, so for a big project have a lawyer where you live look it over.
