Is there a signed brief or written scope of work?

A document both you and the client agreed on before work started

Was a deposit collected before work started?

Typically 30–50% of the total project fee upfront

Are revisions being tracked against what was agreed?

E.g. '2 rounds of revisions included' — and you know how many have been used

Is the project on track to meet the agreed deadline?

Honest answer — considering everything outstanding

Has the client asked for work outside the original scope?

Anything not in the brief — extra designs, changes to the core concept, new formats

Are all client communications saved and organised?

Screenshots, emails, voice notes — everything agreed or changed

Has the client been responsive and easy to communicate with?

Are they replying within a reasonable time? Providing feedback when needed?

Are you confident the client will pay the final invoice on time?

Gut check: any red flags about payment so far?
